The BRIDGE Family Resource Connector Network announces the hiring of Phillip Burrell as Senior Director of Programs. Through this role he will oversee programs and initiatives at a network of Family Resource Centers throughout the Omaha Metro.
The BRIDGE FRC Network’s goal is to prevent entrance into the child welfare and juvenile justice system by connecting families to concrete supports, helping access wrap-around services, and providing coaching. Through a network of place-based “spokes,” The BRIDGE will align needs throughout the community with established resources.
“Phillip’s current role serving young adults through Project Everlast Omaha (PEO) makes him the ideal leader for The BRIDGE programming initiatives,” said Marian Fey, BRIDGE Executive Director. “I’m excited to bring him on board as we work to transform system prevention.”
Project Everlast Omaha, currently administered by the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation (NCFF), is a youth-led initiative committed to providing community resources, connections and supports to young adults as they transition to adulthood. Under Burrell’s leadership, The BRIDGE will work in partnership with NCFF to align the mission, vision, and continued PEO work into the Family Resource Connector Network.
Burrell brings more than two decades of experience working with teens and young adults to The BRIDGE. He earned a degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha and an MPA from Bellevue University. Prior to his position at PEO, he served as Program Director at the Partnership for Kids, where he managed a team of program managers and specialists, monitored the agency’s progress related to the mentoring program, and maintained active involvement with family engagement and student interaction and retention.
“I am thrilled to continue working towards positive change in the community where I grew up and call ‘home,’” Burrell said.
“The BRIDGE Board of Directors enthusiastically welcomes Phillip to our team,” said Chris Rodgers, BRIDGE board chair. “He brings incredible expertise, experience and community credibility to the position.”
